Name: Mathias

Pronouns: He/Him
Favorite game of all time:
I’d say Undertale. I love how it completely flips the usual RPG formula by introducing the Pacifist/Genocide Route. The characters are unforgettable, the soundtrack is amazing (I always listen to it when I am trying to focus while doing homework); and somehow, the art style/design of the backgrounds & animations (Snowdin, Hotland, etc). It is one of the few games that make me laugh, feel guilty, and get emotionally attached to NPCs all at the same time.
Recent game I enjoyed:
Deltarune. I’ve been playing Deltarune since its release, and while Undertale is still my favorite game of all time, I love how Deltarune feels bigger, weirder, and much more focused on the relationships between its characters (despite its alleged “one” ending). SPOILER ALERT WARNING: Even though I haven’t had the chance to play Chapter 5 yet, I’ve already watched several playthroughs since it came out yesterday, and I can say that one of my favorite moments was seeing Flowery, Deltarune’s chaotic alternate version of Flowey. His animations and voice lines were so absurdly funny, and I like how his interactions with Ralsei were sort of mysterious (perhpas giving us hints on how Ralsei will act in Chapter 6?) … I cannot wait to experience the chapter myself once I’m back in Peru.
A fact about me (even though no one has asked for it):
I have experience in UX/UI design/research and I’m interested in learning more about it through game development in this class. From creating sprites, animations, and visual assets for games, I want to create a digital game that is inspired by 8-bit RGPS, but that reflects the culture of my country, Peru, and our biggest celebrations: the Inty Raymi . BUT, while I enjoy digital games (especially Undertale and Deltarune), I’m actually even more fascinated by board games and the social interactions they create, so perhaps I will focus on that during this class?

Hey, I love Undertale and Deltarune, too!!
