A game I enjoyed is Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley is built around repeating gameplay loops that teach the player skills through action and feedback. There’s a core daily loop: wake up, choose tasks like farming, spend energy and time, gain rewards, then sleep and repeat the next day/loop. As players continue the loop, they improve their understanding of systems like crop profits, tool upgrades, and NPC schedules. The game also contains interconnected loops like how mining helps farming through ores and sprinklers, farming funds upgrades and gifts, and relationships unlock recipes and events.
Around these small loops are larger arcs that give players emotional stories and more long-term goals. Players gradually restore the farm, rebuild the community center, and maybe even enter relationships. These arcs create a sense of growth and connection while the smaller loops keep the player engaged.
