Premise:
The story takes place in Tartarus, the infernal region of Greek Mythology. You are Sisyphus and must attempt to carry an immense boulder all the way to the top of the hill. You encounter many Greek characters that give you interesting choices regarding how to carry your boulder up. However, no matter how you choose to bring it up the hill, the Gods will always find a way to push you and the boulder down, knocking you out and making you wake up the next day to try again.
Map:
I think I want to approach this by having a story with three branching choices, for a total of eight ways in which the gods can push the boulder back to the bottom of the hill at the end.
Plan:
I’m still not 100% sure if I will implement this project in Twine, or make it a small, pixel art, Unity Project. I really want to explore my pixel art skills, but I wonder if I have the time in the next few weeks. For now, I’ll preemptively make a plan considering using Twine
Oct 16-18: Finalize Premise and Map, start first draft
Oct 18-21: Finish first draft with all initial decisions and endings planned out
(Greatest challenge will be to see if all the endings and choices feel equally satisfying)
Oct 21-23: Playtest again and iterate on feedback. Flesh out Twine (If in Unity, work on pixel art)
Oct 23-27: Potentially Deploy and keep iterating and playtesting.
(Challenge: will people keep wanting to play in search of a way that the gods can’t push the boulder down?)
Oct 27-30: Final Edits
Nov 1: Submit
