My favorite game of all time right now is Everdell – I just love the whimsical world within this game, all the creative characters and abilities, and even the resources are fun to play around with. I’ve toyed around with the idea (purely in my head, but maybe it’ll come to fruition one day) of adding my own cards to the deck with themed critters and constructions that I can pull out if I ever play my copy with anyone – they’ll say, “Woah! Never seen these cards before, what expansion did you find them in?” and I’ll just laugh (haha).
That being said, I’m always eager to try new board games I’ve never played before – recently did Terraforming Mars a couple times, Flamecraft, and Citadels (2016). This last one, I played with a group of 8 folks, none of whom I really know beyond the level of acquaintance, but the game was such a fun way to see who went for what strategy and how their actions impacted other players directly or indirectly. It’s a great game for a large group with really cool mechanisms!
