Short Exercise – Genshin Impact
One game that gave me a strong feeling is Genshin Impact. I started playing because my friends recommended it, but I stayed because I really enjoyed exploring the world. Instead of making me feel stressed, the game made me feel curious. Every time I entered a new area, I wanted to see what was waiting for me.
I think the world design is the biggest reason for this feeling. The map is full of small details, hidden places, puzzles, and stories that are easy to miss if you only focus on finishing quests. The music also changes in different regions, which makes each place feel different and memorable. I like that the game does not always tell players everything directly. It lets players discover things by themselves, so exploring feels rewarding instead of repetitive.
After reading Learning to Play Closely, I realized that I was paying attention to more than just completing missions. The game’s environment, music, and exploration system all work together to create meaning. These design choices made me feel connected to the world, not just to the gameplay. I think this is what the reading means by “reading” a game instead of only playing it. Looking back, I understand why Genshin Impact left such a strong impression on me. It was not only fun, but it also created an experience that I still remember.
