Narratives

Our group has narrowed down our game type to be an endless runner type of game that is inspired by the Dinosaur Game. Here are some new narratives and concepts that could put a twist on that:

First Narrative

Type of fun: surprise and challenge

Your character is a tiny mushroom who’s just sprouted in a bustling kitchen, and now everything is trying to kill the character so that they can use it for food. As you sprint across counters and stovetops, you dodge flying knives, boiling oil splashes, rolling tomatoes, etc. Your goal is to escape the kitchen before dinner is ready, using power ups like butter slides, cling-wrap parachutes, and more. The unpredictable mix of kitchen chaos and quick reactions keeps players on their toes with new hazards all the time.

Second Narrative

Type of fun: surprise, action, challenge

In this narrative, you’re an overworked pizza delivery guy on a hoverboard, trying to deliver pizzas during a busy Friday night. However, mutant racoons, hungry criminals, and other characters are trying to stop you. To defend yourself, you throw pizza boxes like a frisbee at the enemies, use marinara sticks to slow them down, and launch yourself off of ramps made from construction materials. Players have fun in this game by defeating enemies and having quick reactions to beat them. What I was going for in this game is a combination of endless runner and arcade shooter.

Third Narrative

Type of fun: surprise and challenge

Going off of the Dinosaur Game, imagine that a meteor has just struck, and your character (a dinosaur) has to run as fast as he can to avoid harm. You, a T-Rex, have to make it through collapsing jungles, erupting volcanoes, and stampeding herds of other dinosaurs while fireballs rain down from the sky. You can have power-ups like snacks, ride lava flows like a surfer, and more. The game is designed to be intense and dramatic.
