Concept: A Factory Building RPG

Synopsis

A Co-op factory game with individual levels that increase in difficulty. Includes an overarching story with narrative choices in between levels that add modifiers or limitations for the next level based on player choices. The digital aspect not only communicates the narratives between levels but also provides tools to help the players such as resource tracking or hints/advice. Players take on specific roles at the start of the game, as they play the game, their role will solidify and they may receive upgrades/changes to their roles mechanical possibilities.

Tones

Industrialism: Since the main gameplay concept is running a factory, it is inherent that the main feeling you want to get from the game is industrial power. Think futuristic industrial revolution. You win by helping out the factory owner (for pennies).
Capitalist Dystopia: The corporation demands greater quantity of increasingly difficult to produce materials with the passing of each level. However, the factory is kept with each level, meaning progress is kept.
Steampunk: Each player has a chosen character (each character has specific traits that help with certain actions or make others more difficult). There characters are themed on futuristic steampunk to fit with flavor of the world. Factory components will also be steampunk themed, along with any visuals that appear in the narrative sections.

Setting

Futuristic dystopia. The economy has turned hyper-capitalistic and a mega corporation is making you develop production lines, applying ever increasing restrictions and requirements on you and your team. Between each level there is interactive narrative themed around a board meeting discussing regulations or corporate competition. These narratives define level-specific restrictions or modifiers in addition to level resource requirements.

Gameplay

Each level you play a cooperative turn-based factory builder. Each person has different roles which grant certain benefits/drawback. Factory is built off varying structure types that refine different resources or final parts. In between levels, there are narrative decisions that develop the story and influence what limitations or objectives are put upon you for the next level.

Challenges

Players must cooperate in order to create a efficient factory that gets the materials in time for the corporation. Each level has certain modifiers based on the players’ narrative choices, and each level the complexity and/or difficulty increases. The factory doesn’t reset after each level, and each character must play to their unique strengths to modify and adapt the groups factory in order to beat the challenges presented in each level.
