Possible Directions/Concepts:
- A TTRPG with a defined narrative, which would be conveyed by the digital element. Players create their own characters, which level up and progress throughout the game in classic RPG passion. The game would be managed by some sort of digital game master of sorts, which could also provide exposition and narrative. This would remove the need for a traditional game master figure and further the sense of fellowship by putting the players all on the same level.
- A mystery in a box type game, where the players have physical evidence, but must also interact with a website or other digital element to gain clues or possibly check conclusions. This could potentially add replayability, as the digital elements could be altered to change the premise or re-frame elements of the story. The digital element could also be used to provide more atmosphere(music, visuals, etc.) and immerse the players further into the story.
- A more puzzle-hunt type of experience, with players being guided by some sort of app or similar digital element to various locations. From a mechanical standpoint, the combination of both physical space and digital elements gives us a lot of possibilities, especially if we choose to use more advanced programs like computer vision or GPS integration. On the other hand, too many gimmicky mechanics could hinder the actual storytelling and it could end up difficult to make feel cohesive.
