Learning to play closely – Lebriz Clayton

I believe that one of the best game I have played is called The Pathless, this therefore has evoked positive feelings within me. The main plot of the game is to save this ‘unknown’ world from corruption and return the monsters to being ‘pure’ again this creates the feeling of hope and revival and could be connotations towards our own world which is slowly being destroyed by corruption, war and global warming. I interpreted the game’s restoration mechanics to be a metaphor to real world environmental issues such as deforestation and climate change because when the players progress through the game and beat the levels they are purifying the forest at the same time as well. Therefore as the character is succeeding in doing this it can make the reader want to do something similar and protect their own forests like the character does. Another thing that I find reallly interesting is that the main character is only female and therefore could embody mother nature while still having quite a warrior spirit at the same time. From a feminist perspective, I find this to bring up positive emotions as I quite liked seeing a female having the role of saving the world as it makes the game feel more empowering and contributed to the positive emotions I experienced while playing.
