Short Exercise: Learning to Play Closely – NBA:2K

I would like to analyze the game NBA: 2K, a game that brought me a strong sense of intensity when I’m playing and got me really excited when I scored.

Firstly, the game is set that not every shot goes in. If every shoot can get in, I would feel that the game is too easy, and it is not like a real basketball game. That also drives me to practice harder on this game to promote my shot percentage, as the game rewards precision.

Moreover, every time you pass the ball to the front court, it is not totally the same. There will be some uncertainties because we cannot predict where the opponents would be standing and what they would do at the moment we decide to shoot. These uncertainties add interest to the game and make the game more complex for the players to play, as the players cannot directly use the strategies they have remembered. This uncertainty leads to a stronger sense of intensity inside my heart when I play.

Also, instead of merely controlling one person, it puts you in the role of the coach of a NBA/WNBA team. It is something that most people can barely experience and it requires the players to focus on all the limits, including time, fouls and players positioning. This kind of complexity makes me feel more tense and meaningful while I am playing and make me more engaged in the game.
