MDA & 8 Kinds of Fun

Battlefront 2. A game where forces engage in galactic style battles. First, how do the mechanics function? For defined simplicity reasons, there is a single player storyline, of a main character and her role in the Galactic Empire. However, due to the game’s different game modes that influence mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics, I’ll like to speak about the multiplayer 20 vs 20 mode. Imagine, two teams in the same era, say the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance (those against the Empire’s rule), the goal of either team is quite different. Depending on the map, it could be that the Empire’s goal is to attempt to annihilate the opposing team. For the Rebel Alliance, the goal could be to. . . plant bombs, and EXPLODE different imperial components of a station. All this to say, the goals range. The main rule is constant: if you are on a team that is attacking, let’s say, a Rebel Alliance base, the team as a whole has 100 lives. For each team-member death, the number decreases by 1. Once 0 is reached and if the opposing team has not completed their milestones, the match ends. There is an exception: if 0 is reached and there is an “enemy” within the radius of the capture zone, then the match continues until there are no enemies within the radius. These mechanics allow for a dynamic where “good” meets “evil” in a Star Wars based map.

A great addition to the fantasy aesthetic for us Star Wars geeks (representative fantasy of our world) with a form of narrative storytelling through the maps and wars fought, which all adds to the fellowship between your team members and your bonds– it’s nearly impossible to kill a Jedi or Sith without 5+ regular troopers shooting at them all at once.
