One game I enjoy is online chess, specifically 10-minute blitz of Chess.com. The architecture of this game is strongly arc-based, with a clear beginning, middle, and end. The tension rises throughout these phases of the game and ends with a definitive conclusion. Furthermore, each of these three stages requires its own tactical plan, style, and preparation. While each game is a closed arc, my overall experience with chess feels looped, where I am encouraged to study and refine openings, end games, and everything in between. This balance between the game’s arc and loop keeps the game fresh and motivating, despite being one of the oldest games to exist.
