Narrative Approaches
One approach we are proposing is a point-and-click investigation. In this version, the player explores the village by clicking around different locations, talking to people, and finding important objects or clues, offering funs of discovery and narrative. The story moves forward as the player pieces things together and makes choices about how to respond. The ghost might appear in certain scenes to share memories, reveal hidden evidence, or offer emotional insight about the victim. This setup lets players focus on detective work and dialogue, and gives a lot of room for storytelling and twists.
Another option is a walking exploration game. Here, the player moves freely through the village, gradually learning what happened by exploring homes, graveyards, forests, or other areas tied to the case, also offering funs of discovery, sensation, and narrative. The ghost might follow the player or guide them toward hidden parts of the map, whispering clues or appearing in certain emotional spots. The story unfolds through what the player discovers in the world — old letters, overheard conversations, or even the environment itself — creating a calm but immersive mystery experience with a strong emotional environment.
A third direction is a narrative puzzle-platformer, where the player needs to complete light challenges or mini-puzzles to unlock new scenes and evidence, providing funs of challenge, discovery, and narrative. The ghost could help the player pass through barriers or reveal hidden platforms that represent memories or spiritual spaces. After solving each section, the story continues with dialogue or flashbacks. This format keeps things more interactive and physical while still telling a rich mystery story — good for showing how the living and the dead must work together to uncover the truth.
