Direction 1

  • Multi-player game (4-8 players)
  • Board is similar to chutes and ladders where players can progress and regress depending on the square they land on
  • Squares tell a story, similar to the game Episode
    • Narrative Squares: players will make choices that will earn them points
    • Need ideas for other types of squares!
  • Digital app helps keep track of the cards; players will “pick a card from the pile” via the app. App also can help keep track of points
  • Win condition: person who can make it to the last square with the most points
  • Types of fun/narrative approach: emergent narrative, fellowship/fantasy/narrative

Direction 2

  • Multi-player game (4-8 players)
  • Escape room type game
  • Each year in college represents a different level
  • Advancing from level to level requires solving a puzzle (passwords, locks, secret messages)
  • Players progress through the board together and gather clues
  • Clues can be uncovered via riddles, logic puzzles, etc (need help with thinking about the clue mechanism)
  • Win condition is successfully escaping
  • Types of fun/narrative approach: embedded narrative, fellowship

Direction 3 

  • Multi-player game (4-8 players)
  • Resource collection/management combined with storytelling
  • Players progress throughout the board
    • Some squares are challenge squares where the reward is earning resources; players can also use resources to accomplish challenges
    • Some squares are narrative squares where players must use their current resources to craft a story according to a prompt
  • Types of fun/narrative approach: emergent narrative, fantasy/narrative fun
