Hi there everyone! I’m Janene (she/her) and I’m super excited to be in 247G with you all this quarter! My love for gaming started when I was little — my dad and I would always play Halo together (before my mom got home from work, because she didn’t like whenever the aliens cursed). Nowadays, I love a mix of card games, RPGs/farming simulators, and horror. I also love watching walkthroughs, speed runs, and “lore explained” videos on YouTube.
My favorite game of all time has to be the original BioShock (although the entire franchise has a soft spot in my heart). I love BioShock because of its unique retrofuturistic aesthetic/ambiance, moral dilemmas, genuinely scary character design, and insane ending twist. It was the first game that made me view games as an art form.
A game I’ve played recently that I love is Pathologic 2, a Russian horror RPG of sorts. I like that the game feels impossible and almost intolerably creepy — I haven’t played a game that has made me feel that uncomfortable in a long time, and the world immersion, lore, and dialogue quality are all just next level. It also incorporates a lot of dramaturgic elements which I find to be super interesting! Excited to meet everyone and say hi if you see me!
