I have many favorite games. My favorite mobile games are Binary Puzzle + Spades. My favorite board games are Azul and Powergrid. My favorite card games are Monopoly Deal and Spades. Each type of game holds a different places in my heart. My phone games keep me company while I make the long walk from Manzanita Garage to EVGR C, but I play physical games with my friends and family. However, my all-time favorite game has to be Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go saved me from rotting in my bed during quarantine, and I just think it is so well-designed. The incentive structure in Pokemon Go is just insane. I walked over 10 miles the first day I downloaded it.
I recently played Hanabi, and I really liked it! I am not used to playing collaborative games without a single winner. I caught myself trying to subtly cheat by saying “this is a five!!!!!” when we were getting close to having a full color set. I find it interesting that a collaborative game would be the thing to test my morals.
