I believe that the visuals for this game is very important as it is what would make the user curious to explore around and therefore follow the plot and the memories. Therefore, I thought that it would be a good idea to have the village set in the centre of a forest/woodland area where there are a number of streams, rivers, trees for the user to enjoy as they look around. Below is a rough sketch of how the aesthetic/map would be (the village in the middle, then a stream, then a forest/woodland area). I thought that we could tap into a warm colour palette to make a warm, cozy feel as shown by my mood board above and therefore have the game set in autumn so that the trees’ leaves would be yellow/orange.
    2.  Mini games within the main game in order to gain the memories
To make the memories something the user needs to win, I thought it would be a good idea to make the player have to play a mini game and win in order to unlock the memory. This mechanic would make the game more stimulating for the player and include more levels to it that would appeal to more advanced players of the game. Some mini game ideas include swipe to match games, noughts and crosses and other basic games that everyone knows how to intuitively play.
    3. Sidekick character
I thought that it would be nice to maybe make it either a multiplayer game or perhaps have a side character with the dog that the player could interact with and perhaps control as well? This character would be another animal such as the sketch below and can aid the dog while trying to find the memories. While the penguin wouldn’t have any direct evolvement with the plot and the memories it would serve as a comfort character for the player whilst alone. Perhaps it could trigger the first few memories.
