Team Bathyergus’ Norms:
- Complete assigned tasks on time (don’t make the team wait for/remind you).
- Show up to all the meetings and be ready to actively participate.
- Coordinate with each other about when deliverables are expected and keep each other updated about our progress.
- If you think you might need help/advice/clarification, just ask for it instead of doing a bad job (or the team’ll get bogged down and lose valuable time).
- Respond to Slack messages within 24 hours, ideally sooner–if you see a message but can’t give them a full response right then, send a message saying “Hey I see this & can get back to you at [X] time later today”… it helps them know whether they should seek alternatives.
- If there’s a lull or silence, encourage the group to get going or suggest somewhere to start.
- If you want to experiment in another direction or build a cool add-on, let the team know in advance, just so it can potentially be incorporated later rather than the team down the road not knowing what to do with a fully alternative proposal.
- When you have a question, ask proactively in Slack, since others likely have it too.
- Give feedback regarding the issues, be straightforward–but understand that it’s not against the person.
