Checkpoint 0: Team Norms (Team Bathyergus)

Team Bathyergus’ Norms:

  1. Complete assigned tasks on time (don’t make the team wait for/remind you).
  2. Show up to all the meetings and be ready to actively participate.
  3. Coordinate with each other about when deliverables are expected and keep each other updated about our progress.
  4. If you think you might need help/advice/clarification, just ask for it instead of doing a bad job (or the team’ll get bogged down and lose valuable time).
  5. Respond to Slack messages within 24 hours, ideally sooner–if you see a message but can’t give them a full response right then, send a message saying “Hey I see this & can get back to you at [X] time later today”… it helps them know whether they should seek alternatives.
  6. If there’s a lull or silence, encourage the group to get going or suggest somewhere to start.
  7. If you want to experiment in another direction or build a cool add-on, let the team know in advance, just so it can potentially be incorporated later rather than the team down the road not knowing what to do with a fully alternative proposal.
  8. When you have a question, ask proactively in Slack, since others likely have it too.
  9. Give feedback regarding the issues, be straightforward–but understand that it’s not against the person.
