A game that I really like is Pokemon GO, since it lets you feel like you’re exploring the world and collecting interesting things. In the game, Pokemon will appear all throughout real world locations, with Pokestops at occasional locations, and collectable egg items that will hatch into Pokemon as the user walks around. These mechanics allow for players to walk around in the real world and explore new locations to find new Pokemon and new Pokestops which create fun interactions and gameplay. Many players are excited to leave their houses and visit new places while paying attention to their surroundings to search for new Pokemon and items. This makes the real world seem more exciting, and being a player of the game can add to someone’s experience of simply being outside. Pokemon GO allows for the very ordinary event of walking outside to feel like an exploration of new Pokemon and challenges, uniquely adding a physical exploration component to the basic premise of Pokemon games of catching and collecting all the Pokemon and engaging in battles. For me, these dynamics can create the idea of an discovery in normal day to day places, full of opportunities to compete and collect rewards.
