For me, I would choose to analyze Minecraft.
For this game, there is a set of mechanics that involves breaking blocks, picking blocks, and placing blocks. These mechanics allow players to selectively destroy blocks they don’t need and transfer some blocks they need to the correct positions. These mechanics together create an extremely simple and direct Dynamics, where players can build buildings or other content by destroying and placing blocks. Of course, as a game that is well-known to many game players, Minecraft show us the aesthetics – expression under the influence of these mechanisms, although it is actually more than that.
For example, in Minecraft, you may need to build a house. At this point, the mechanics of the game come into play: breaking blocks and picking blocks allow you to collect the blocks you need during the process of building a house; Placing blocks allow you to place the blocks you have collected. When you combine these mechanics together, you will find a very exaggerated effect: you can now build houses!
So, in short, Minecraft gave me a dynamic that is building buildings through these three mechanics, and I can have a certain kind of fun, that is, expression.
