Directions for the game:

Direction 1: a narrative game centering tiny monsters who need to discover what their passions, relationships, and dreams were in a previous life. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, in which these children have lost touch with their identities, and the only way for them to return to their lives is by embarking on a difficult journey together. They will face many foes, most of whom were members of their community before the apocalyptic event, and they will gather clues along the way to deduce their true identities.

Direction 2: I am pretty invested in the monster theme, so in this version of the game, the monsters are instead enacted by the players. In this role-play version of the game, players receive cards and characters, who they must enact throughout the gameplay, each with a set of predetermined strengths and weaknesses that impact their ability to fight other monsters and collect power-ups. The RPG works by encouraging players to adapt who they are at each turning point in the journey, allowing their experiences to influence their characters. This version of the game focuses primarily on expression fun.

Direction 3: Focusing on the puzzle and problem-solving elements of the assignment, my vision is a puzzle game in which characters have predetermined relationships to each other and to the NPCs in the game. Throughout the gameplay, they must deduce what their prior relationships to these people were by enacting set actions such as to fight, flee, or fawn.  Players must work together to uncover the mystery of their lives through the clues embedded in the gameplay, thus making the game collaborative and the players dependent on each other for determining the truth behind the monsters’ transformation.
