Our first prototype was pretty scrappy! Below are some of the biggest questions that came up in the discussion after:
- Do you still get to look at the email that was sent to you if you firewall it?
- Win conditions don’t work—hacker couldn’t win because the “last man standing” would always win before
- Hacker role felt “inevitable” since firewalls would just eventually burn out
- Suggested giving the hacker the option to send non-buggy emails
- Suggested adding in randomness—you shouldn’t know who sent you exactly which email
- Suggested sending two emails at once
Overall, we needed to add more balance between the roles and play around with the shape of the graph. A lot of the components we tested in class would have worked in a digital version but didn’t translate to a physical environment where players could see each other’s boards.
