Playtest 10/19/25
Player: Alex, a college-aged student. Alex is not an artist, but does not like AI art.
Observations:

Fig 1. Conversation with first artist

Fig 2. Conversation with third artist
- Alex wished there was more of an introduction to add context (right now you just spawn in a gallery)
- Change: Add an intro scene “Act 0” that contextualizes your character more
- Alex liked being able to view the different art pieces
- Wish he could explore multiple routes of the dialogue.
- Change: Made it so you are rerouted back to the starting node (minus the route you just went through).
- He mentioned the first two AI artists (fig 1 shows first artist) didn’t really tell him anything insightful.
- Mostly just about if they’re selling and then they get mad at you
- Change: Made the characters have names + art to differentiate them & different archetypes
- Landon: A tech enthusiast, who is excited about AI art and how it’s made under the hood.
- Stella: A wannabe artist, who tries to hide the fact that her painting is “AI art.”
- NewGenArtist (goes by alias): An entrepreneur trying to monetize the AI art boom by selling his courses on AI art prompting.
- Suggested adding a real artist in the mix so you can get more perspectives
- Change: Added a real artist
- Felicity: Based on a friend who is a real artist.
- Change: Added a real artist
Conclusion:
- I decided to add more purpose to the AI artists, with each one giving you a different archetype: tech enthusiast, fraud, and entrepreneur.
- Landon: learn more about how AI art is made (including the use of copyrighted art)
- Stella: experience what it is like to interact with an “artist” who is faking it
- Inspired by my friend who would often ask me if an artist he was following was using AI or not (the artist got exposed and cancelled lol)
- NewGenArtist: face someone who easily uses AI art to get wealthy, whereas staying honest seems to gives you hardship
- Real Artist, Felicity: bond with someone over the struggles of being a “real” artist
