Tiny Prototype

My prototype was a small segment of my game, consisting of you naming yourself, interacting with a wandering man who is interested in buying your art for the low price of $100, or $5 an hour basically. You have the option to get lowballed, refuse to sell for lower than $1500/$2000, or refuse to sell at all. Then, you get to interact with three competing artists at the art pop up, all of which are “AI artists.”
Short Observations from Playtest
- Butch: Butch mentioned that I need to keep a consistent tone in my game– to either go the humorous route or the serious route in order to nail the right emotions. Interactions with the “Blue” artist led to lots of laughter as he tries to sell you his monthly subscription course on how to prompt AI art. Some difficulties with onboarding due to no instructions or pop-ups yet. Butch mentioned he did not feel “bad” for the artist yet, but can see the direction towards creating these emotions.
- Lucas: Lucas liked the transition from viewing the art to talking to the artist. He said it was very clean. Lucas mentioned he didn’t really feel empathetic towards the artist, because he doesn’t really identify as one. For example, I initially had the wandering man try buying for $200, but Lucas thought that was a fair price. I ended up lowering it to $100 and emphasizing that that would be $5 an hour for a 20-hour long painting.
- Player: Due to time constraints as this player’s playtest was quite long, we didn’t spend too much time on my playtest. The playtester liked the topic, mentioning that a lot of his anime artist friends from a club used to be very anti-AI art, but now they love using it. Thinks the topic is pretty relevant. The playtester liked being able to walk around.
Changes
- The interactions with the red and green artists were glossed over by the playtesters. I want to add more impactful conversations with them. In particular, I want the player to feel looked down upon and start to question their ethics around AI art (sell out $$$?).
- What else should I make them feel?
