Tiny Prototype:
For my prototype, I wrote up a choice-based narrative on Google Docs and had players bold their choices in the doc, keeping a mental note of what choices they made (and thus what dialogue/choice options to choose in the future.
Playtest Observations:
I play-tested with Julia! From her playthrough, she expressed that she really enjoyed the direction of the game thus far, but was hopeful that future iterations of the game would have more branching narrative (and not just the illusion of choice, as mine currently does). From playtesting Julia’s game and observing the class blog, I definitely want to make my game have more impactful choices – I just have to decide how to implement this and keep the quality of the story as compelling as the original.
