Three emotions I am interested in instilling within the player are triggered, light-heartedness, investigative.
Here is my mood board:

Here are my three directions:
- We can have an conquerable Stanford map that isolates multiple dormitories and dining halls. The Berkeley students will try to infiltrate one dining hall at a time. In each role, we are acting in a different protective position. For example, for dormitories, the player can act as an RA and they can accept or not accept a student into the dorm. For dining halls, the player can act as the door person and they can either accept or not accept a student based on their ID card information. Within the setting, there can also be other information like the student’s SAT score, overall GPA, recent transcript, and more. And based on this information, the player must either accept or reject a student to the location. At the end of their shift, if they accepted too many Berkeley students or too few Stanford students, then we can determine if the territory has been claimed by Berkeley or still Stanford. The game ends when the entire map has been covered, and the last location can be the football stadium, which would be the most interesting level of the game.
- We could create a surveillance-based game where players manage a network of security cameras throughout Stanford campus during Big Game week. The player would need to click and monitor multiple feeds at the same time, identify suspicious behavior patterns of Berkeley infiltrators, and deploy Stanford student volunteers to eliminate them. Players would have limited resources (number of volunteers, time before Big Game) and must make strategic decisions about which suspicious activities to investigate further. This direction would incorporate time management and pattern recognition elements while maintaining the core Stanford vs. Berkeley rivalry theme.
-
Alternatively, we can make this a more dark-themed horror game. We can make it that at each level in which the player loses to Berkeley and a portion of the school has been conquered, each consecutive round can get darker and darker. The horror elements could include eerie Berkeley chants echoing through halls, distorted Cal Bear insignias appearing in the backgrounds, and more. We can have it so that in order to fight back against the horror, the player can collect resources around the campus.
