Short Exercise: MDA & 8 Kinds of Fun – Jenny

A game I love is Stardew Valley, specifically playing on multiplayer with shared income. The mechanics of multiplayer shared income create a dynamic where you’re cooperating with your fellow players and discussing necessary purchases. When you earn money, you don’t only earn it for yourself but the whole team, which feels more satisfying. This is not a competition but a community as opposed to playing on different incomes. Additionally, in multiplayer, you can easily pass around and share items, so you can also have that same satisfaction when obtaining an item someone else needs. I also find the gameplay of Stardew Valley not to be very challenging, so it is a game that can easily be in the background as you chat with your other players. Being able to emote at each other also strengthens a sense of comradery. In conclusion, I enjoy Stardew Valley for the sense of fellowship it gives me with my friends.
