Hi, it’s great meeting you all! My name is Lorenzo Ahn (he/him) and I’m in my last year as a CS HCI Coterm.
My favorite game of all time is Enter the Gungeon. This is a rogue like game where you find yourself traversing through procedural generated dungeons, shooting through bullet themed enemies with silly little guns(?) to reach the top of the tower and acquire the “bullet that can kill the past.” This is a game that fully commits to its gun theme so artfully that it ascends beyond being a mere gimmick. In this game, the enemies are all gun themed. The most basic enemies are Anthropomorphic bullets that try to shoot with guns. You face against different bosses such as the “Gattling Gull,” a buff, shirtless seagull armed with a guttling gun, and other bosses with similarly punny names. There are also over 200 guns, each with its unique mechanics and themes, such as “Banana” which is a banana that shoots an explosive banana that separates into three smaller, bouncy, exploding bananas. Even after tens of hours poured into this game, I still find new weapons that make me snort. All these different pieces are then tied together by a unique story that keeps you grinding through the Gungeon. It’s a ever repayable game that I come back to again and again.
Recently, I’ve been enjoying playing Poker. One of my good friends has been hosting a weekly, underground poker ring (legally) at his house. While I’m not a huge fan of traditional gambling, I’ve been enjoying getting to meet new people and hanging out with my old friends at the low-stake table. Gamble responsibly.
