Over the weekend, we were able to iterate on our prototype quite extensively based on our initial feedback and our discussions regarding our core gameplay loop. This resulted in a system that gives players more resources in the beginning of their colony, and also provides several choices to them in terms of how they want they colony to grow!
We mainly have two questions for our current version of the game. The first one concerns a small fear about the scope that we are trying to achieve. We find our system very interesting, but also it might take a lot of time to fully flesh it out and balance it in Unity. Basically, does our scope seem to ambitious? If so, how could we reduce it?
The second question is regarding the way we are representing our game’s ‘system’. Its quite obvious that we took a lot of liberty and fun when coming up with this design, but we are wondering if there are ways that we can more clearly make the connection between our fictitious cat colony and a system that we need to represent!
Below is a diagram we came up with to map our system and photos of our new prototype as well as another playtest we did!
