Premise:
It’s a normal day in 1998 in Woodhaven, California. You, the player, wake up in the morning as Stacy Holmes and go about your average day. There’s school, work, some little shops, and a lot of suburban homes. You meet some fun characters and learn about the town and its slightly darkened history. Nothing too bad, but you find out that last year, a woman was killed in her home and the killer was never found. Major bummer. But it’s probably not relevant anymore, and you’ve been invited to a house party tonight, where all your friends will be, so there’s no need to worry. You go to the party, and the vibes are crazy. People are drinking like it’s their last day, some guy keeps talking over the horror flick everyone’s trying to watch, and you swear you just saw someone steal a vase. You go to the garage to get yourself a drink – but you aren’t alone. You hear the lock click behind you and a figure in a Ghostface mask holds up a knife as he laughs in your face. You try to run, but there’s nowhere to go. He stabs you once, twice, three times… your vision goes hazy and all you can hear is that horrible laugh while life slips from your grasp. The knife digs deeper, and you’re gone.
It’s a normal day in 1998 in Woodhaven, California. You, the player, wake up in the morning as Maria Walker, and go about your average day. Everything feels… familiar… but not quite. You can’t enter all the locations you did before, but there are a few new ones you can. You explore and learn more about the town, but you end up in the same place you did last night- that damn house party. What will you do now?
This game is a loop-based interactive fiction about the day of killing in a town with a slasher. Based on the iconic slasher flicks of the 80’s and 90’s, this game is set around a small cast of teens and townspeople who are victims of the slasher. Each game loop is a day you play as one of the characters, until the house party, where you get slashed. You wake up the next morning as a different character, and explore the town to find secrets and discover the identity of the slasher. Each character has access to a slightly different set of locations and interactions (ie, only Maria knows where the library is and goes there) based on their personality and daily life. The loop finally ends when you defeat the slasher and restore peace to Woodhaven.
