Intro – Jasmine

Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine (she/her), and I’m a junior majoring in Psychology.

My favorite game of all time is gin rummy. We would play it whenever my family met up with the rest of my extended family living abroad, and I have really fond memories of gathering around with aunts and uncles and cousins I haven’t seen in years to all play gin rummy. It’s a game that requires a certain level of strategizing to be decent but just enough luck to keep things interesting.

A game I recently enjoyed is chess. I never learned how to play chess growing up–our chess set was repurposed solely for checkers–so when a friend who’s really into chess recently offered to teach me how to play, I spent an entire afternoon with him learning the mechanics of the game and some basic strategies to start. I enjoy the complexity of the game, with the ability to quickly turn the game around with one really good or really bad move, and the seemingly endless strategies to winning.
