Narrative Directions
Direction #1:
The plot is a fraternity pledge tripping out while completing tasks around the house. Throughout the day he has to microdose shrooms and as the day progresses, the more he consumes, the more he trips out, and the harder tasks get. From throwing out the trash, to grabbing fresh beers, and cleaning toilets, each menial task prompts the pledge to trip out into a mini world themed around the task he’s completing. In this mini world, they will be playing 2 dimensional arcade games.
- This game would be a storyline kind of game where the player is walking through some story. The mechanics between the various mini-games should vary depending on the 1) tasks and 2) psychedelic consumption levels.
Direction #2
They fall asleep and wake up in space. Their intergalactic spaceship lost all its fuel and you need to recover the fuel. The thing is, the fuels are golden stars that have scattered across the foreign solar system. It’s your job to go to each planet and earn the respect of locals by playing games by their rules of physics and earning your stars back. Once you recover all your stars, you’ll get to go back home
Direction #3
You found a broken/dusted arcade machine in the frat house basement. You start tinkering with it and it ends up turning on. Inside the game they mention people in your life that are close to you, and so you soon realize that the game has real powers to affect those close to you. You have to beat all the minigames in order to save your friends and family.
- In this verison players will be able to toggle through different mini games and potentially familiar vintage Arcade games. The big differentiator here would be 1) the narrative behinds the arcade games and 2) the game physics in the game. Imagine playing Brick Breaker but theirs a variable gravitational pull on the ball that changes every time it collides with a surface.
