Premise

In this story, a young volunteer teacher arrives in a remote mountain village for one week and wants to help Mei, a shunned girl whose family has already lost one daughter. But “I” can’t simply help, because “I” am an outsider: every act of care, whether filming her life, stepping in when villagers beat her dog, or telling her a painful truth, carries a cost to Mei, to “my” place in the village, or to her trust. And when the week ends, “I” will leave while she stays. The player must decide how far an outsider should get involved in a life they can’t stay for.

Challenges

  1. Tight timeline: only 10 days. If behind on 10.23, I will cut the minor choices first and keep the three core choices (camera, intervention, farewell).
  2. Sensitive content: The story includes illness and animal violence. I will add a content warning and avoid turning suffering into spectacle by focusing on characters’ dignity and reactions rather than graphic detail, then check with playtesters how these scenes feel.

AI prompts

  • Flowchart: “Based on my original Figma flowchart, reorganize my visual novel’s key plot points into one complete flowchart in the same format, with chapter order, player choices, outcomes, and conditions for hidden variables.”
  • Map: “Draw a top-down map of the village where my story takes place, and mark the key plot points in space. Mei’s home is reached by crossing a mountain, and the teachers sleep in the classroom. ”
