A game I very much enjoy that employs loops & arcs effectively is Hades by Supergiant Games. Hades uses many loops of vary frequency, all the way from the individual combat actions to runs that can go up to 40 minutes. The loops are interspersed however, by narrative elements that act as arcs in between the more intense gameplay. However the arcs in themselves act as part of a larger loop of doing a run, returning to the start, progressing the narrative and unlocking upgrades, and repeating that cycle until you win. There is of course endless nuance to be found in these systems, but I think it’s safe to say Hades utilizes the structures of loops and arcs extremely effectively.
