Story & Setting
Protagonist: A young restaurateur running a small eatery in Florence’s old quarter. Raised in an orphanage, their only possession is an old copper coin engraved with a strange crest — the Medici family emblem. Believing themselves to be of common birth, their life is upended when a mysterious elder visits, leaving a cryptic half-message:
“Under the orange tree in the Boboli Gardens lies the family’s final secret…”
Core Mystery: Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, the last direct heir of the Medici line, died in 1743. Legend holds that she bequeathed the family’s vast art collection to Florence through the “Family Pact,” but took one greater secret to her grave — whether the Medici bloodline truly ended with her.
Player Goal: Explore Florence and its surroundings, gather clues, solve puzzles, and gradually discover they are Anna Maria’s lost descendant — then decide how to face this heavy inheritance.

Puzzles
Each puzzle drives the central question: “Who are you?”
- The Emblem Revelation — The copper coin bears six pills (the Medici crest). At a specific angle in the Medici Chapel, light filters through stained glass onto the emblem, revealing hidden text: “Anna Maria’s child, not on the altar, but among the living.”
- The Hidden Letter — Buried beneath the orange tree in Boboli Gardens, an iron box contains Anna Maria’s handwritten letter. It mentions entrusting an infant to a convent and declares: “The name Medici may fade, but Medici blood must live free.”
- Fresco Fragment — In a disused studio at Palazzo Pitti, assemble shattered fresco pieces to reveal a noblewoman holding an infant — with your childhood orphanage in the background.
- The Galilean Cipher — An old book’s flyleaf contains Galileo’s coded notations (astronomical symbols) corresponding to coordinates of a Florence landmark. This leads to the final proof: a birth record concealed by the Church for three hundred years.
Player Choices & Endings
Players face two major decisions that determine the final outcome.
Decision 1: Reveal or Conceal?
After uncovering the truth, choose:
- A. Go Public — Face a storm of media, politicians, and art dealers. The mayor of Florence may even urge you to “reclaim” the family name to boost tourism.
- B. Remain Hidden — Protect the legacy anonymously, working in secret to prevent illegal art trafficking and safeguard unpublished Medici archives.
Decision 2: How Do You Define “Medici”?
Stand before the family tombs in the Medici Chapel:
- A. Embrace the Bloodline, Continue the Patron’s Legacy → Become a modern-day patron of arts and sciences. (Ending: The New Renaissance)
- B. Reject the Bloodline as a Symbol of Privilege and Oppression → Donate the hidden wealth to public education and vanish without a trace. (Ending: The Liberator)
- C. Walk the Edge, Exploit the Name for Gain → Operate in the grey zone as a shadowy “art collector.” (Ending: The Opportunist)
- D. Reconcile Without Accepting or Rejecting → Return to the small restaurant, occasionally telling tales of the Medici to customers — but never revealing yourself. (Ending: The Guardian)
Art Direction
- Visuals: Pixel art inspired by Stardew Valley, with warm, cozy tones for daily life and darker palettes (deep blues, golds, crimson) for historical and secret-laden scenes.
- Atmosphere: Blends the charm of rustic Italian daily life with the weight of Renaissance history and buried secrets.
