One game I really enjoy is Minecraft! The game gives the player a lot of freedom, and the architecture is mostly open-ended and system-based. Instead of one fixed story, Minecraft is built around systems like crafting, exploration, and building. These systems interact with each other and let players create their own experiences with anyone they want. Different players can have completely different goals and experiences where some people focus on building (shoutout my builders), some explore caves as Miners (shoutout my little bro), and others try to defeat the Ender Dragon! The environment also tells stories through the characters and creatures of the villages, ruins, and different biomes. I think this architecture works well because it makes the game feel creative but also personal.
