For context, you can find my prototype that I printed in class here.
Feedback from Playtest
- The choices could be less obvious
- Introduce some neutral choices like “Go left” or “Go right” that takes them on a different path
- Introduce some more morally gray choices that make the player think more
- Ellie the Elephant should also have an opportunity to be saved at the end
- Develop the relationships between characters more – have Bowser help them out with something
- Bowser gets too nice too fast – he should slowly become nicer
- People surprisingly help him, so then he realizes he should be nicer
- Have a system to keep track of friends/your status with them
- Have slightly different endings than WIN or LOSE, maybe have multiple win endings but the way to reach them is different. The LOSE endings can also be more diverse.
- Adding in more visuals of what the stuffed animals look like could be helpful
Changes I’d Like to Make
- Make the story longer and add more choices – maybe 3 options at some point?
- Improve the characterization of Bowser so his change feels more earned
- Flesh out the other characters / give them backstories
- Maybe add in some luck based elements
- Even if you make one bad choice, there should still be a way to win the game (right now there isn’t)
- Think of a better “bad” ending
