Short Exercise: What do Prototypes Prototype? – Evan

  1. How does the game progress from turn to turn?
    1. This is important so that we can clearly outline rules and structure for the game so that players can play!
    2. We can use cards with the words and themes for our game and simulate a round.
    3. I think it will be easy to do a round, score, and then move to the next person.
  2. Is there a way to add varying difficulty levels?
    1. This is important so that players can choose the optimal gamemode for them.
    2. We can have either multiple card decks with harder words or have varying card difficulties on each.
    3. I think having multiple words on each card at varying difficulties will be best.
  3. Is it easily replayable?
    1. This is important so that people want to keep playing.
    2. We can test multiple games with the same group.
    3. I think as long as we have a lot of word cards and theme cards, it will be replayable.
  4. What is the optimal amount of people?
    1. Too few people and the game won’t work. Too many and it may not be fun.
    2. We can test varying group sizes.
    3. I think 4-6 people will be best.
  5. Are there any notable exploits?
    1. This is important so that our rules are thorough.
    2. We can try to have people cheat or break the game.
    3. I expect to find some, but hopefully they are easy to fix.
