Short Exercise: MDA & 8 Kinds of Fun – Shang

Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi factory automation game developed by Youthcat Studio. In the game, players explore the universe, collect resources, build increasingly complex production lines, and ultimately design and construct a Dyson Sphere to harness the energy of stars.

I believe the aesthetics of this game include Challenge, Discovery, and Expression.

For example, in terms of Challenge. In this game, mechanics such as production chains, building layouts, and conveyor belts support the dynamic of automated production. Limited resources, spherical grid layouts, and logistics systems support the dynamic of expansion. Technology trees, automated research, and power generation and consumption support the dynamic of technological development. Expanding the scale of automated production requires resources and space brought by expansion, as well as logistics systems and electricity provided by advanced technology. Expanding to more distant planets requires a large amount of factory products and higher technology. Researching advanced technology requires large-scale factories and abundant resources. These three dynamics restrict each other; players often encounter difficulties during gameplay, but after putting in a lot of effort to solve problems, everything becomes easier due to the mutual promotion of the three dynamics, leading to a sense of satisfaction.
