Three Directions for our Game:

  1. MDA Analysis:
    1. Mechanics: terminal environment, typing, navigating with arrow keys, clicking, gameclock
    2. Dynamics: solving word puzzles, solving memory puzzles, using previous keys to get clues, time trials testing mouse dexterity, conversation with a hacker character
    3. Aesthetics: fantasy (pretending to be a hacker, false sense of urgency and importance of tasks), narrative (ongoing conversation with the hacker, a story with a goal and a journey), challenge (solving puzzles and using clues to advance the story), fellowship (can be completed as a team, hacker will call out individual members of the team to complete certain challenges), discovery (players are attempting to explore the narrative space [desktop] and have freedom to check different areas)

3. One possible narrative approach:

You are greeted by a new operating system, Blundows 24,  and a peppy yet wholly unhelpful computer assistant, ClarK. ClarK explains to you the controls of the operating system as well as possible things you can do with its new capabilities, which are presented as top-notch but feel too good to be true. After a brief introduction, ClarK wishes you their best to explore the operating system, and informs you that they are just a command away.

With the controls under your belt, you are free to explore this environment. ClarK mentioned to check your email, so you do and you find that you have one new message:
