Checkpoint 0: Team Norms

Team Norms for Effective Collaboration

  1. Please respond to team communications within one business day during the week, and within two days over weekends.
  2. Attend all scheduled meetings on time. If you anticipate being late, notify the team at least 30 minutes in advance.
  3. Complete your assigned tasks by the agreed deadlines. Inform the team as soon as possible if there are any delays, so we can adjust plans accordingly.
  4. Avoid scheduling meetings on significant personal days unless absolutely necessary and agreed upon by everyone.
  5. Encourage and build on each other’s ideas. Provide constructive feedback and avoid dismissing suggestions without consideration.
  6. Strive for high-quality outcomes with efficient use of time and resources. Focus on producing excellent work that meets the project’s standards.
  7. Engage in weekly meetings to discuss progress, any challenges, and recognize achievements.
  8. Offer timely and constructive feedback. We are here to support each other’s professional growth and improve our collective output.
  9. Acknowledge both individual and team successes to maintain morale and encourage continued excellence.
  10. Ensure that all team members have the opportunity to contribute to decisions. We aim for consensus and, if needed, decisions will be made by a majority vote.
  11. Share insights and knowledge gained from individual experiences and external resources to enhance our collective expertise.

Accountability and Support

  • Each team member will provide updates on their tasks during our weekly meetings to ensure transparency and mutual support.
  • Maintain a clear record of task assignments and progress, accessible to all team members.
  • Address conflicts directly with the involved parties first. If unresolved, bring them to the team for a mediated solution.

Communication and Documentation

  • Using iMessage as our task management system is a straightforward way to keep track of tasks and communicate quickly with the team. It’s ideal for smaller teams or simpler projects, as it allows us to share updates and reminders directly through our phones
