Sketch notes – Game Architecture

I really enjoy playing Hades, a multi platform game where you play as Zagerus, Persephone’s son, as he tries to escape each successive level of the underworld. One interaction loop that I found particularly challenging was learning how to beat Theseus and the Minotaur (the Elysium bosses). I had some idea on how to approach it from defeating other bosses in lower levels (mental model) and I would decide a strategy (focus on taking out the minotaur first which I learned because in previous attempts I found Thesus gets very powerful as his life dwindles so its harder to fight two at once). Then I would apply that strategy (action) and get immediate feedback (in terms of how much life I was taking from each boss vs how much life I was losing), which then taught me strategies like when to block, when to attack, which weapons fared better. This ultimately improved my mental model for the next attempt.
