Narrative Directions
Direction 1 – Tarot-Inspired Card Game
I want to create a cooperative tarot-inspired card game for 2–5 players centered on self-reflection, compassion, and connection. Players draw symbolic cards and prompts to explore personal insights and shared understanding. The game creates a safe space for thoughtful conversations. Players sharing personal stories is welcomed, but NOT required. The table becomes a living “reflection spread” built collaboratively.
Kinds of Fun: Discovery, Expression, Fellowship
Direction 2 – Five Phases of Life
Inspired by the Five Elements (Wu Xing) of Chinese Daoist philosophy — Wood (growth), Fire (passion), Earth (stability), Metal (structure), Water (wisdom/flow). Players input or draw cards based on their birthdays to determine their dominant and supporting elements. Cards represent elemental energies, cycles of generation and control, and personal qualities. Players use these to explore strengths, balances, and how their elements interact with teammates’, building a harmonious group “element map.”
Kinds of Fun: Discovery, Exploration, Fellowship
Direction 3 – Circle of Lanterns
A central “Lantern” token passes between players as a turn mechanic. Prompt cards invite thoughtful sharing while supportive symbol cards can be played to offer compassion or insight to others. The group collaboratively builds a shared reflection spread.
Kinds of Fun: Narrative, Fellowship, Sensation
