I love Minecraft! It’s one of the games that I’ve been consistently playing and watching let’s play videos of since I was in elementary school. Given how broad the experience of playing Minecraft can be, there are many sets of mechanics that create dynamics which form core aesthetics of the games. The one I want to focus on is how mechanics such as the crafting system/recipes, redstone engineering, and building mechanics (e.g. physics of how gravel will fall down, or how the shape of a block influences where it can be placed). These mechanics create the dynamic of being able to craft different blocks and materials to build whatever players can imagine, and also create intricately engineered systems using redstone. This dynamic of being able to build and create things from my imagination makes Minecraft fun for me in terms of expression and fantasy. I love being able to lose track of time while building mansions and flower gardens in my survival mode, curating the interior design just as I like it!
