In our game, our values, loops, and arcs build a dynamic experience that reflects the strategic balance between growth and survival. Key values in the game include the number of cats, food reserves, and skill levels from training. Each value shifts depending on player choices, impacting colony expansion or sustainability. Loops are incorporated as follows – positive feedback loop enables players to increase cat numbers by hunting or reproducing, which amplifies growth. However, this loop is counterbalanced by a negative feedback loop, where higher cat numbers demand more food, pressuring players to manage resources efficiently. Balancing these loops ensures players cannot grow the colony without considering food availability and training needs. Arcs guide player progression, with short-term arcs in decisions about whether to hunt, reproduce, or train, each impacting immediate resource dynamics. Meanwhile, longer-term narrative arcs emerge as the colony expands, challenging players with managing larger groups and requiring them to adapt their strategy based on food scarcity and colony needs. Through these values, loops, and arcs, the gamecreates a layered strategy experience, prompting players to carefully balance growth and survival in building their cat empire.
