Concept Doc 1 Individual Deliverable (Team 17- Xinyi Wang)

Direction 1: Our main character, a seedling, solves a series of puzzles and gains new powers after successfully solving each puzzle on its journey to become a fully-grown tree. An example of the puzzles can be that after the seedling collects all the ingredients to make a nutrient potion for the sunflowers, the sunflowers gift it with the special power of growing at double-speed under the sun, or after successfully saves a girl kidnapped by the lumberjack, the plant acquires the power of bravery and compassion. Although this direction does have a loosely embedded narrative of the plant’s growth, its main focus is on solving puzzles.

Direction 2: A bi-character mystery game where a seed with magical efficacy tries to get back to the magical realm it belongs without being caught by the seed hunters, while a teenager tries to confront the problems and gains back confidence in her life. The seed and the teenager encounter each other and set on a journey to achieve their respective goals, during which they both grow and become stronger and better. This direction will focus more on the narrative than Direction 1, and has the player collect evidence and accomplish tasks as the way to promote the development of the story.

Direction 3: In the faraway land of Thear, the Mother of Forest and all the plants and animals inhabiting its range are under the threat of deforestation, air pollution, and extreme heat. The player’s task is to maintain and eventually expand the coverage of forestry against these negative forces of the climate and the lumberjack. It’s a game of speed where the player has to grow plants, come up with ways to absorb pollutants and reduce temperature before more creatures die from the killing by lumberjacks and hunters and the harsh living conditions. The player learns about how they should do these through communicating with the creatures in the forest.
