3 different directions for the game:

  1. There is a witch that lives alone in the middle of the forest. 100 years ago she lived in a village nearby, helping those who needed her magic. She was young, 20 to be exact, and in love. However, when she fails to save the wife of a hunter, he takes revenge, killing the person she is in love with. From that moment she changes, in anger, she erupts a magical forest around her home, spanning acres and destroying any village in its way as it rises from the ground. No living thing from the natural world can enter  the forest and nothing leaves it. That is, except for one crow. He is her dutiful companion. No one but her knows what happened, but to him she is good. You are the crow. 100 years in the same corner of the forest begin to bore you. You watch as the witch wastes away in sadness and solitude. One day she fails to wake up, and in a panic you leave the cottage that you both inhabit. The rule is to never go beyond the circle of trees that surround your home, but you break it, just this once, just because it’s necessary. The forest is bigger than you could have imagined and as you soar through the trees above in search of a magic mushroom for a potion, you see the edge of it, you see homes but you only look for a minute before you return. The witch is sick, she needs a root to survive, but it doesn’t exist in her forest. You must travel through the forest and to the human village to get it, to help her. The forest is a direct reflection of the witch, her experiences, and her emotions which you face as you traverse through it. As you travel, you learn more about her and about yourself to uncover an unexpected truth –> a mix of narrative episodes and missions that move a mystery forward and provide a sense of challenge.
  2. You are a witch’s crow that hates her and wants to escape. You must traverse through the forest and conquer a series of challenges to discover who she is and the horrible things she has done. Your goal is to figure out how to defeat her and escape her reach forever, discovering more about yourself and how you came into her possession. –> mainly a challenge game with narrative.
  3. You work for a witch that helps a village nearby. You are a crow. She goes missing. You must take her place helping the people of the village while slowly unraveling the mystery of where she went and what it has to do with you –> mystery, challenge, narrative.
