Our initial prototype was not really a system game. For the new prototype, we have developed a collection of headlines, a mix of real and fabricated news, alongside a set of event cards inspired by real-world situations. Additionally, we created a world map featuring 10 of the most widely used social media platforms, complete with a set of rules that can alter the system.

After playtesting in class, we’re exploring how to effectively extrapolate the consequences of players’ actions in a way that reflects reality while remaining manageable within a board game format. Currently, players do not feel a strong inclination to choose one action over another. We think introducing elements of competition, such as resource management or diverse player objectives, could raise the stakes of the game and make it more engaging. Any advice on this will be highly appreciated!
