A game I enjoy is God of War: Ragnarok. Its game architecture balances loops and arcs very well, with a very straightforward gameplay loop developing combat and exploration skills that’s broken up by occasional expositional arcs (cutscenes). The level design is very linear, with the enjoyment coming from the beautiful environments you’re exploring, the overall plot developed through levels and arcs, and the gameplay loop of mastering the complex combat system in this game.
