What do Prototypes Prototype? – Luke

1. What type of collaboration on a drawing produces the most engagement and enjoyment between a team?

This question is important for us to answer because we want to make a drawing game with deception components that is fast-paced and team-based. Finding the right balance between these three mechanics is going to take a lot of iteration and testing. Our first prototype has a lot of promise, but I’m worried that it will result in everyone drawing the same thing on each drawing.

2. What information about a drawing can be restricted/decayed throughout the game while still working towards a finished picture?

It’s impossible to make a drawing when you don’t have the information of what you’re supposed to draw, so finding a way to restrict information from a subset of players is difficult. Our prototype currently neglects the mechanics, with everyone knowing what to draw, but that makes it very hard to fit deception mechanics into the game in a natural way.

3. Should the game have a more party game, deception, or expressive style?

Currently, we are trying to combine too many different features from different genres into our game. Understanding what is fun about the game we have right now will help us “follow the fun”.
